I went into my lfs and asked if they had any feeder fish for my Oscars..

...The bloke behind the counter looked at me strange and said that if the RSPCA knew they were selling live fish as food he would be shut down.

You guys are always on about feeder fish. Is it legal in the states then? what type of fish are they and where can I get them in the UK?

heya,

i work in quite a large north uk based aquatic retailer...

basically its illegal to sell live food to feed to other animals - its classed as "baiting".

feeder fish is a generic term for any cheap, easy to find stomach filler(ie cheap goldfish)

anyways, feeders are mass produced fish, that you cant guarantee the health\stock of.

also if you start feeding them, you may abe conditioning your fish to accept only live..

instead try a varied an dbalanced diet...... for extra protein try beefheart.....
