Is this what good Live Rock is supposed to look like? It looks like everything's dead to me and nothing is going to grow in my tank. I want my tank to get colorful and interesting, but it doesn't look like it's going to with these rocks?

It's live rock from Tonga.

Stuff will grow on it eventually. Once you get the purple coraline algae growth, it will look much nicer. But the rock still looks pretty good to me. It might take a couple months, depending on what type of lighting you are using too. If you have a higher output light then it will most likely get growth faster.

Pretty much what Jesshika said really...Also, if it was dead, it would stick....Smell it, if all you can smell is saltwater, then its fine. Color comes over time, so, just bear with it...

That is how all my rock started when I got into the hobby now, it is all beautiful. It did however take 5-6 months for it to really flourish. Before and after in the pics below!
