Hi everybody ...
i ran a test few weeks ago , here s what i 've done :
i had 5g unused tank , i put some gardenin ferts i found at home that i have no idea what s it , put a thin layer of gravel on it , and put evrything i can find in my 55g plants like leafs , dying plants and anythin that left over from them and even some new plants ,in the ferts and add water , put a 20w flurouscent on it and lightin bout 12hrs a day ,..
now some of them are grown and have new leafs and they r much more colorfull than they were in the tank and look like much more healthier ,no yellow or brown spots on them ...
so the question is can i add garden ferts to my tank ? :D

No, because you dont how safe they are to the fish.

I totally agree.... I wouldn't put anything in my tank unless I know what it is and that it's safe for the fish.

I wouldn't, there are lots of added things to gardening ferts than fish ferts

proportions of the first are also mixed for terrestrial plants not aquatic
