I have a piece of Flame moss on my driftwood and it seem that my fish use it as a toilet... It's making the Moss look like junk and I think it starting to create a brown type of algae from to much Nitrate or something because of all the waste... What shall I do about this?

Largest concentration of crap in my tank is in the 2"x2" section of my Moss patch.
It's hard to shake loose because its deep in the moss, I swish it out with a stick but they crap in it again the next day. Not sure what algae might be growing on it yet, to early to tell. The wood has a slight crater shape to it so it falls into that under the Moss patch.
Also, the Excel that i dose might be cause my moss to turn the darker colors and not a bright green like it should be, or a combination of the two..

Tanks been up for a long time.

i would just use your vac to "fluff" the moss. You could also try changing the angle of your filter discharge so that the current doesn't make the wastes fall there.

I see the problem with my moss now.
My excel dosing was killing my Moss, I thought it was algae ut it was parts of my moss dying..
I was only dosing 4ml every couple days to kills off the starts I seen of the BBA I had on a couple of my plants.

Excel in high enough doses will do that. The brown moss won't come back, but it may be replaced w/ green, fresh growth if you didn't kill the entire patch.

When it comes to pooping, fish aren't like Chows - they just let fly wherever.
