These guys have been in for just over a week now, we can't believe how well they have settled in.
Lord Dashwoods colours have changed AGAIN. He was a nice dark chocolate to black with silver stripes when we picked him up, yet last night we saw him change from salmon pink, to orange and nearly through to red, quite stunning to see. Lady Godiva just keeps getting lighter and lighter, almost white at one point last night, with her dark speckles and lines.
Anyway, here are a few pictures of them, sorry about the state of the glass, I didn't have time to clean it before taking these shots, and most were taken without flash to try and capture how they looked under the little 9W arc pod light that is under the hood of the tank.

Awesome seahorses! I've been thinking of getting some... could you describe the setup a little?

It's a 75 Litre clearseal hexagonal tank.
approx 10 Kg of LR
Elite internal filter with bio media removed. now housing phosphate removal media, polypads, and fine filter wool.

Tank been set up for just over a year, we wanted to make sure it was well matured before getting the sea horses.

As well as the H.Erectus, it is also home to a six spot sleeper goby or chalk goby, a pink scooter blenny or starry dragonet, a cleaner shrimp and a peppermint shrimp.

We do have an upgrade tank we very recently picked up, a seabray 150L corner pentagon (diamond shaped)

We're hoping to get this set up within the next 6 months with sump/fuge and skimmer, but this set-up had worked really well so far.
It has gone through a few changes over the year, we tried hang on skimmers and nano skimmers etc. but they just filled the tank with micro-bubbles, which isn't acceptable when keeping sea horses, so we researched and tried other options, and the current arrangement is the best we have found so far for this type of set-up.

hope that's enough info :)

just another quick point.

They are Captive bred, and we bought them from:
http://www.simplyseahorses.co.uk/

they also have a fantastic array of other marine life as well as a stunning selection captive bred sea horses, tanks full of corals and algaes etc. so if you're near Cheshire (just off the M6 J19 I think) they are well worth visiting, I highly recommend them :)
