hey guys

just wondering is it necessary to change substrate for a well planted tank after a while (like 6 months)?
If yes???!
when should i change substrates?

not really i mean you could do it but it's a hasle to do with no real benefits most of the time

hmmm, if its just plain old rocks I may say "yes" but not for the reasons I suspect you were asking about.

Even if you have a standard substrate with no nutritional value you may want to consider fertilizer tablets. Again, this depends on the type of plants you have along with what seems like about 100 other things

No, other then for aesthetic reasons. Your substrate is fine. If you have root feeding plants then use root tabs to feed them. Otherwise regular ferts should be fine for your plants that get nutrients from the water column.

I dont think you should, all the nurtients are already in the substrate, unless if you are using root tabs. You will probably have to re-cycle the tank if you change it out.

Only if you want to. That is if you are ready for a different look. :cool:

It takes time to build up all the good mulm in the substrate which your plants love. Changing substrate sets you back.

but what say i am changing from normal to like flourish substrate? will that also set me back?
