GAH!! Ok so my older brother had a couple friends over last night, and they thought they were going to have some fun with my fish....
Ok the basement of my house is finished out, but there is a big storage room in it that is unfineshed, and that is what i use for my fish room... Well my brothers stupid friends, after i went to sleep, went into my fish room with a video recorder and recorded themselves reaching into my fish tanks and pulling out my goldfish and holding them out of the water so that they could see them flop around above water!!!! IM SO MAD!!! that is not there stuff to touch, and even though it's not their stuff, i would have thought that they had enough common sense not to be so freaking cruel to such innocent and helpless things!! And that was just the 2nd day that my goldfish were in their new tank, so they were still in that hiding phase where they were really skidish and scared of everything!!! That makes me so angry! WHo do they think they are to do that?!?!! AH!!!! And after they did all of this they proceeded to posting it on facebook!!! Im so mad! Sorry, i just needed to vent!! but seriously, does anybody agree with my thoughts on this?! It makes me nervous because i can't be up night and day protecting them from stupid people!

ive thought about getting a lock before but my parents don't want me drilling holes in the walls or doors and stuff. They probably think ill mess something up. I can kind of see why they don't want me drilling holes in it tho, cuz the way that the room is made, (its not a finished room) parts of the wall is just thin drywall with nothing inbetween so if i drilled a hole it would show right through on the other side. In order for me to be able to put in a lock, i would have to put in a wall or at least part of one on the inside...or i might just be able to put a really simple one in...like the kind used on bathroom stalls....but i wouldn't be able to open it from the outside

Yes, my mom thought it was funny. she doesn't understand how sensitive fish are i guess. everybody around me that i try to talk to about fish just roll their eyes at me like im a 5 year old making up stories, and then say very slowly "they're FISH".
I talked to him for a while, and apparently he thinks that fish are somehow not intelligent enough to feel fear. Thats how all his friends were as well. After trying to explain fish to them for a while, i think they understand somewhat. They looked like they felt bad, but i don't think they felt horrible like i would have. but anyway, i got an apology from him and he said he honestly didn't know that fish were so sensitive.
i just don't understand why people can't comprehend that holding a fish out of water is the equivilent to holding, say, a guinea pig underwater for an extended period of time.

There used to be this big dog that some idiot would let run all over the neighborhood. Would they consider (maybe, if there is a door to your fish room) you could change the knob for a one with a lock and you hold on to one key and your parents get the other key. Could that possibly work for you???:)
