in your house!!
heya fellas i just happened to be lookin around the boards and saw this forum. i checked it out, saw some pics and wanted a paludarium. i did some research and found the easiest creature for me to take of wood be fire belly newts. in the water, if possible, i hope to have either glofish or guppies. as for questions here they come:
1. im gonna use some plastic for a plastic storage bin. i figured i'd just cut it and some how attach it to the tank. would this work?
2. from above what should i use to attach the plastic to the tank
3. should i have an airstone or filtration to create a water fall or water running down a wall?
4. im not sure but would 5 fire belly newts do well in a 20 gallon?

ill have more q's later but i gtg

thx guys for answerin my q's if ya do ;)

Fire bellied toad are good to. You can use plastic as long as there's no sharp point and use safe aquarium-silicone to bond them together. Maybe you can get those special mini filter made for reptile/amphimpian ,but an air stone will work just have to do more water change. I would go with 3 newts unless there's plenty of swimming room and hiding spot like wood and plants on land for them than go for 4-5. If you want fish you may have to go with the filter, but i wouldn't get them if your going with 5 newts.

a guppy or two wouldent hurt with less than four newts, but you wouldent see any babys. i would go with a filter anyways, fish or not, but thats just me. it would also produce some current which the newts would probably like

i think im gonna use this filter that has a tube attached to it. i can rig it with a longer airtibe and create my waterfall effect with it. id get the toads but my mom hates frogs and things like them, im not sure if she'll even let me buy the newts:confused: and for the plastic silicon any specific brands i should ask for? this starting to sound real sweet :D

You can just get a tube of GE Silicone I for about 3 US Dollars. As long as it is 100% Silicone and no additives, it will be safe for fish use.

rats i just asked my mom if i could buy the newts and silicone and she said no way... rats.. mabye ill just turn it into another fish tank or a hermit crab tank:werd: im allowed to have those:headshake2:
