after discovering the high price of keeping a chameleon. ive pretty much rulled out buying one. id rather have something a little cheaper that requires less maintanence. so ive looked into the blue tongue skink. ive read up on them. ive estimated that the least i can spend to buy one is $90 since they are livebearing. than i need a tank and a heat lamp (ive read that UVA is optional). but how much is their cost per year as well. they dont seem to be as picky as other lizards. since they will eat dogfood and greens. but if you have kept one was it expensive keeping them?

In my opinion there's not really a near total amount on how much you spend on the them. Again it all depends on the food and supplies.
Agreed. What are you planning on feeding him? And are you going to get a baby or an adult?

People I know with BTS really seem to like them a lot. They tolerate handling and can be quite friendly. Can't say I've ever had one before but I'd like to get one someday. Make sure you do a lot of research before getting one. Start reading up caresheets and compare them for info. I saw a few adult ones at the last reptile show I was at for between $60 and $100 bucks. If I were you I'd buy a young one and grow it out.

that was my plan so i could tame him out while its young still and i could watch it grow. thats partly why i like them they tend to not run fast and are very friendly. also ive read they eat a large variety of things but tend to like some variety in there diet. ive also read that they will eat moist dog/catfood. if so what else should i sub into his diet and aproximatly how much will they cost to feed on an estimate?
