Hi,

I am looking for lighting for a 120 gallon reef tank. I am considering a T-5 fixture (a 4x54 or even 8x54--Nova Extreme). What could I keep with that lighting in a 120 gallon tank (4x2x2). Could I keep softies? LPS? How about SPS or clams?

Thanks,

nterry

Im using a Geismann 230 Plus and its keeping all my stuff alive and kicking... its got Metal Halides and a nice pair of actinics... I think with a 4x2x2 of T5's and Actinics ull be fine...

You can setup T-5's so that you could keep anything you might like but what gives T-5's there punch is individual reflectors and if you were to use an IC 660 ballast that would also add to there punch. I was running T-5's on my 65 gallon and its 24 inches deep and had Clams, LPS's and SPS's and they all did good but with only being able to fit 4 bulbs I went with MH's, when I setup my 120 that is the same foot print as yours I will probably go back to T-5's. You will have to make sure you get quality bulbs also because that will make a big difference.
