Has anyone deal with this type of canister filter? Since I'm upgrading my tank to a size between 100-150 after Christmas. I'm going to get a new canister filter.. I was hoping to save some money (and plumbing) with this type since it has a uv inside.

Opinons?

I have used several canisters on tanks for a number of years. I have an average of 15 mostly planted tanks going over the past 8 years and have never ever used a UV sterilizer.

Get yourself an Eheim with the money you save on the UV :-).

it looks like a nice unit to me. if i had the cash, i would buy one. uv can have its uses, especially in certain situations with fish taht require better than the tap or distilled water. the latter can become expensive, which is where ro systems and water pruification units come into play with many homeowners. a canister that incoporates these features is not only unique but could even become cost-effective in the long term, pending issues like reliability and longevity of parts are resolved before such price assessments are made. in short, i think canisters like these can have their place. saltwater reef tanks and discus tanks are two that come to mind. in sort, to me itd be worth a shot.

After doing a little research, it only has a 5 watt UV and only flows 290 gph. The Eheim is way better than this.
