I have a water feature in my back yard and it has some :goldfish:, 1 turtle, and a bunch of frogs. I came with the house I purchased 4 years ago. The only thing I have done is added goldfish when the Blue Heron ate them :swear: and I have cleaned the pond out once a year. I have been reading about snails on the forum the last few days and am not sure if I should get any for the pond. I do have a water lily and don't want to loose that to a bunch of reproducing snails. I have been try to find out what to feed the snails if I get them. I have seen several sites like this one http://www.whatdosnailseat.info/ and others trying to figure out if snails will eat my water lilies. Would y'all add snails to a water feature? If so, what kind and how do I stop them from over breading?

I would add pond snails to your pond. Pond snails don't eat live plants, only dead plants. Most people think that snails reproduce extremely fast, but that is only the fault of the owner. When snails are fed too much, they go into breeding mode which will eventually take over your pond. Don't overfeed and you will be in the clear.

You could try some Japanese pond snails, Viviparus malleatus. They graze on algae and driftwood. They're livebearers and do well in cold water.
Don't buy any of the other species - Pomacea canaliculata and related species will eat your plants, and P. bridgesii/diffusa won't be able to get enough food, as they need blanched or microwaved veggies on a regular basis, which would pollute your water before they found them in a pond.
