laser pointers and fish

Had some friends come over last night and one of em had a laser pointer. After making him swear not to shine it in my fishes eyes i let him shine it in the tank.

What happend next provided about 15mins of laughter. The fish actually chased the red dot on the gravel. Its a tank with 5 mollies and 2 guppies(i think). My males flared and chased it around the bottom, and the females seemed more or less interested. Eventually they caught on that it wasn't something they could catch and stopped chasing it.

Just wanted to share cause i thought it was interesting that fish are that supicious of red dots lol.

P.s. SAEs seem to ignore it all together.

heehee I just experienced the wonders of a lazer pointer a few days ago.

I bought one for my cats, and the packaging said safe for pets and people (with, of course, warnings about the eyes), and fish were on the list of pets to use it with. Before I got around to trying it in the tank, I wore the batteries out making the cats chase it. They need to lose some weight :P.

I did it once, they didnt like it at all. Then it put the dot on them and they ran. My dog loves it though.

One of my cats LOVES it, the other just looks at it, looks at me in disgust, flicks his tail and walks off. The fish pay no attention whatsoever.

Our French Bulldog puppy LOVES them...the cat sometimes----the other two dogs(11 and 12 year old Lhasa Apsos) couldnt care less!LOL

My fish always chased it around. Totally broke after a week though.

Most fish, some dogs, almost all cats & about half of parrots react to mine.
