Ok I'm going to buy a Eheim canister off Ebay. Which to choose?
The Classic or the Comfort Series?
For the Comfort: I like the priming feature and the lack of energy usage.
Classic: Bulletproof but wondering about priming and most come without media. Help I would like to buy soon. Thanks in advance Zach

I have a Eheim 2217 classic. I've only had to prime it the initial time it was setup. When you do filter maintenance all you have to do is shut off the valves and disconnect them. Then when you re-connect the valves and open them the filter refills itself no priming needed.

That took me a minute, by "comfort" you mean what we all call ecco.

Anyway, that's a tough call. All eheims are great filters. Comparing those two is hard. Generally, I'd say the classic is a slightly better filter, however the priming feature of the ecco is AWESOME. That's the only downside of the classic, it's a PITA to disconnect, clean, and then reconnect.

If this for the 35g or any of your smaller tanks, the Ecco series will be PERFECT. Personally, for anything bigger, I wouldn't use either of those, I'd go for the Pro II series.

I have a classic and a pro II, they both are great filters. The classic is a pain to take a part, but does a great job filtering my tank, the 2026 is very simple to take apart but I hate cleaning it. But both are do able.

go for the classic series, its a rocksolid canister, tried and true. I have yet to try it myself, i have one, just havent setup my tank. I plan to get a small eco to be used as a carbon only filter, so i wil be able to try best of both worlds.

for the amount of time that you actually spend priming for a filter without carbon, its worth it to get a canister that is definitly rock solid.
