well hello to all of he forum

just setting up a 55 gal tank and I'm running threw the cycle process

just a few numbers to pass by you (API master kit)
temp 78
PH 7.4
amonnia 25/50 (this went down from 1.0) after,10 gal water change today
nitrate 0
nitrite 0
what are the numbers that I'm looking for , as there don't seem to be a good chart for dummies

question is it has been about a hour since the water change should i change out another 10 gal or wait until tomorrow

another question is i got in my marineland C360 and set it up and running
should i use the hang on filter that came with the tank running both wile tank is cycling ?

tank has one week of run time

I would run both filters all the time, you want 0 ammonia, 0 rites, and some rates showing not higher than 40, pwc's will keep the rates down, mine are around 10...Nice tank.......:)

i have one placo in it , as i didn't do enough research before i set it up , and pet store said the placo would be good to start the tank with , i now know better . So i need to do this as smooth as possible for the little guys sake .
so far he is doing well sucking every where he can
he is a friendly little guy , and i don't want to cause to much stress on him if i can help it

( i added the Aqueon 55 filter again as suggested ) thanks

i will do another 10 gal water change

OK a total of 20 gal was changed , should i just keep testing every day then change water out as needed ?

i must have enough water movement in it i can see the air bubbles rise to the left as they go up

Plecos arn't a good fish to cycle but you have him now so staying on top of your water changes are going to be important. Doing a fishy cycle will require daily water changes to keep your ammonia and nitrites under .25ppm. I would recommend that you do water changes of 30-50%.

I would keep testing each day and keep doing water changes, you'll see an increase in Nitrates as the bio filter establishes. Ammo is the killer here and PH levels, a low PH is harmfull to the beneficial bacteria in the bio filter, the ammo. will kill your fish. Frequent water changes can control these params. until the tank finishes cycling. I would suggest that you buy some equipment to make your water changes as ez as possible, you will be doing many, many many water changes to keep the tank operating properly. I bought a siphon vacume and extended the output hose with hose I got at Home depot so I can siphon right out the back door. I also bought a 12 dollar "fountain" pump from HD also, and some plastic hose long enough to go from the water source to the tank. I use a 5 gal bucket and fill it up with water treated with API stress coat, the fountain pump is in the bottom of the bucket and I turn it on to pump the water directly into the tank. I can change out 50% of a 100gal in just under an hour now with very little work involved, making it not something to dread but just a part of the weekly chores now, no big deal.

thanks i will keep on top of the water changes ,
as for all of the pump equipment and hoses ,,i think i can handle the 4 buckets a day with out the extra stuff laying around , but good idea

A python is even easier to do water changes with.
