Okay, I'm in the market for another canister filter. It's between a Fluval 404 or Filstar XP3. Don't have the cash for an Ehiem. Trying to figure out which one to purchase.

I have 3 Fluval 404's. I don't have a complaint with them, but I was wondering about the Filstar. I've seen alot of posts lately about the the Filstar blowing bubbles or possible air leaks.

The question is: Should I stick with the tried and true? Or try the new kid on the block.

Any info will be appreciated.

All I know have really heard about the filstars is that they are easy to clean. I also think I heard that the XP filters more gallons per hour then a fluval 404.

Handles!

Just another good thing about the Filstar is it has handles for easy carrying, unllike the Fluval....

I just purchased a Filstar XP3, to take the place of my Magnum 350pro system and even though I've only had it a week,I'm impressed! It holds alot of media and is completely silent.I set it up with the 2 bio-wheels from the magnum instead of the spray bar it came with and all the media was included, for under 100 bucks.Of course I haven't had it long enough to comment on"leaks"but I really twisted those hoses around to get them sealed on the bio-wheels.No leaks yet...

The Filstar is the way I'm leaning to. I just wanted to make sure I was making the right choice.:)

I just spent the weekend transfering my 150 to my new 90. Also, redoing my 150. It's been a real busy weekend. Since I moved one of the canisters to the 90, all I have to do now is order the new canister for the 150. I'll be doing it this week. I can't wait to cycle it and get it going. :)

A 150! Very Nice..!
