Get a bristle nose pleco, they are great for controling algea.

isn't plecos out of favour,1 fish 2 fish didn't want plecos,otos and algae eaters,mollies eat algae but not very good at it.

I would try to figure out the root of the algae problem instead of just buying fish to eat it. Do you have high nitrates? High phosphates? Does the tank get any direct sunlight?

Depends on the owner of that tank,would he or she rather get an algae eater or solve by finding the source.
