Fiddler or Hermit w/Mudskippers in Brackish?

Hey, I just converted a tank to half land/water, and I will be getting some skippers in a few weeks once it's done cycling, but I was wondering what others are compatible with the skips, namely Fiddler Crabs and Hermits.

I have heard that fiddlers are ok, but I have not heard anything about the hermits. But I did see a video on youtube "Vladamir the Mudskipper Hunting", where there was a hermit in the tanks with the skipper. Idk if that's safe, or compatible, so I figured I'd ask.

From what I heard, most types of brackish water crabs will try to attack and eventually hurt your Mudskippers. If you are talking about the common land Hermit Crab, then they would not last long in that type of environment.

Hm, I find that off to hear about the fiddler, bc most sites are saying that they do well with skippers as long as the skipper is larger than the crab..

Hermit crabs do NOT live in brackish environments. Land hermits spend most of their time near beaches with high humidity. They will need to drink saltwater and freshwater, so they do need a supply of both. Not an in-between. They are scavengers, not hunters.

I was a big hermit crab keeper before I went into the aquarium hobby, so I speak from experience.
Yadokari means Hermit crab! :-)

I'm not trying to contradict you, I was just wondering bc the tank I saw had a freshwater dish up on the sand for the hermit, and then there was the brackish water too.

I think I've seen that tank on youtube and I don't really suggest doing that. It's ideal for the mudskipper but not for the hermit crab. It won't survive long in those conditions. The idea is cool though, but again, not ideal.
Unless of course, you're making a gigantic tank that has enough room for half land and half water. Land portion for dry sand with humid air for the hermit crab to go to. Water for it to run into and take a dip. It also lets your mudskipper live there.

Ok. Thanks. But the fiddlers would work out still if the skipper is bigger than them?

Are there any other possible tank mates other than other brackish fish for the skippers?

My mudskipper killed the half dozen or so fiddlers I had with her. She got along well with bumblebee gobies and mollies, and a violet goby.

Was it a land hermit? There are some brackish hermit crabs, and some marine ones that are often converted down.

I don't know how to ID the different hermits by a video clip...

hmm well i guess i'll just wing it for the fiddlers later on if i decide to get them.
