I'm not talking about cories, here....
i never noticed how similar bags of (land-loving) cat treats were to bags of algae wafers. But, I just broke up some of an algae wafer for my snails, and one of my cats started meowing at me, begging for what he thought were treats. So, after trying to convince him they were algae and he wouldn't like them, I gave in to his incessant meowing (my parenting skills aren't great, they are spoiled) and tossed him a tiny piece.
I had assumed he would turn up his nose...like he does to most things I try to feed him. Nope, he ate the darn thing, and then asked for more! (I didn't give him any, not sure how healthy they are for cats).

My cats do the same thing but I haven't fed any to them. I don't think it would do any harm to them though.

Probably not....but he's got a sensitive stomach, so I didn't want risk stepping in kitty puke tomorrow morning when I get out of bed. Eeewww....
I once had spilled a little bit of Betta Bites while feeding the fish, but I was late for work and hand to wait till later to clean it up from the carpet. Mysteriously, the Betta Bites disappeared from the carpet. Neither the cat nor the dog have fessed up...it's still a mystery ;)

I had a cat that was a master jar opener. After a couple experiences coming home to find my fishy flakes knocked off the shelf and lidless, all over the floor and mostly eaten, I learned to keep them in a cupboard.

At my old job working at a public nature preserve, people would sometimes only stop by to drop off unwanted cats and dogs. I was only able to save two very young kitties the whole time I was there, only because they willingly came to me. When I kept the first kitten in my house for a few days before turning her over to an adoption center, she got behind my aquarium stand (which is completely open in the back but has a door on the front) the first day and found my bags of hikari fish food! A 1.7 oz unopened bag of good quality food was almost completely gone by the time I got back home that day! When I kept the second kitten a few months later, and had a brand new, newly opened bag of the same food in the same spot, the second kitten copied the first one and ate almost all of it! They were very similar to one another in many other ways, too, like how they were both too sweet and cute to be yelled at! I've never before had cats or known cats that liked fish food, but it makes sense that they'd like the fish meal that's in it. I also think the two kittens I saved had been starved :(

One morning I was in a hurry and dropped a huge bottle of Gold Fish flakes. I scooped most of it up but figured I would vacuum when I got home. Well, when I did get home there wasn't a flake to be found. So I guess dogs like fish food too!

I think flakes make more sense than algae wafers. Cats like seafood. Algae on the other hand....

The cat who ate the algae wafer only likes bright-orange cheese flavored products (cheeze-its, goldfish, cheese whiz, cheetos, etc...) and buttered popcorn. If chicken has cheese on it, he may eat it. He doesn't like much else, including seafood.
My other cat has a sweet-tooth, she enjoys anything creamy....milk, cream, ice cream (her favorite), yogurt, whipped cream, cool whip, anything creamy, sweet and vanilla-y. She has NOT asked for algae wafers...yet.

Odd, since cats (supposedly) cannot taste sweetness...
Mine would eat anything that held still long enough.. I miss him.

Ha! Didn't know that. Well, maybe it is a texture thing? She isn't a fan of much else....she doesn't like other soft foods that would also have that same texture (like cheese), chicken, fish, ....she doesn't even like wet food (only the juice around the outside). But when she sees that I am eating ice cream, she begs for it. She loves it more than milk or cream...no idea. Maybe she likes the coldness combined with the creaminess?
Well my cat like sweets, she eats red licorice and will come running from across the house if she smells or hears the package being opened.

My cat likes fruit...any time I eat an apple or pear or peach (he loves chasing skinned grapes! But doesn't care for citrus), he waits patiently for me to share a bite with him. Then he'll try to lick it, flicking it all over the apartment until he's rasped it down to a smaller size...and then he finishes it off. And last night while carving a pumpkin, I learned he loves the slimey pumpkin guts.
