i'm excited, i'm breaking down my 29g reef to make a BW tank. so far my stocking(currently in a 10g QT) is
(1) Butis butis
(1) flounder aka hog choker
and in the future i'm going to be getting a white cheek moray eel and possibly an f8 puffer. i've got a very nice driftwood root that is as tall as the tank and about 14" wide so i'm planning to put that back into the tank with some java ferns and anubias tied to it.

that tank is waay too small for all those fish.

white cheeked moray reaches at least 14 inches (do you know the scientific name of the one you plan on getting?) might reach 30 inches depending on what species it is.

butis butis 5-6 inches

flounder - 8 inches, may need full marine when adult

puffer - fig 8's tend more towards freshwater rather than brackish.

Agreed. I'd go for the F8 or a GSP puffer alone in that tank.

the tank is fine for all of the inhabitants i listed, it may be a bit on the smaller side for the white cheek moray(E. rhondochilus) but barely and i will likely be upgrading to a 40g or so, probably when the eel hits ~8", i plan on getting it as a young juvie, its more a challenge of compatability. the f8 i'm still unsure of because i'll probably raise the salinity above 1.008 before long(perhaps when i upgrade) so i might either move the f8 to a 20L planted or leave it in the 29g with some mollies or gobies and move the rest to a high end BW tank.

You really should havee mentioned upgrading in your 1st post. Throws people off, if they think you're overstocking your tank like that.

i'm pretty sure that even at with just those three fish i wouldn't be overstocked, close too though, especially with as messy as i've heard eels are, but i think the hogchoker will probably do a decent job of cleaning up. oh and my filtration is a homemade 20g sump and overflow underneath the tank, i'll probably make it into a refugium and i've already got a grate that will keep the eel out of the overflow.

more like inappropriately stocked in any case....

how so? the only problem i can think of would be the eel perhaps taking a nip at the butis. if i were to add in the f8 then there would be potential problems(like the eel nipping him and salinity issues)
