Here is a picture of my 40 breeder, that currently houses 6 zebra plecos. At least I know I put 6 in there ! The driftwood and the plants in the front middle, were added today. The 3 plants in the rear (1 in each corner and 1 in the middle) have been in there for a little over a month. I keep the tank at 85 degrees, have 2 AC 70 filters, and 2 aquaball 1212 powerheads, only 1 of which is running at the time (by my choice). Comments ? Thanx.

I call dibs on any Mass zebra babies! Your tank looks great but I don't really know what they'd like. Good luck!

Nice set up. Not sure I would lay it out like that for a breeder though.

Looks cool. kinda hard to tell details with such a small pic. I have a 40 breeder myself, love the footprint.

I think what he was trying to say is usually when someone sets up a tank primarily for breeding they keep it simple, usually very little or no decor, bare bottom etc.

I think it just makes it easier to manage eggs/fry when there is less in the tank. But I am not a breeder, and so not sure if this is the reason, but seems logical to me.

That's what I got from the comment as well.

I think it looks just fine. The more cover available, the better. Too little and a group of zebras will get to fighting, and they can kill each other when they do. Many places to hide is the best way to prevent this, imo. While some folks will pull pleco eggs and hatch them in traps, I have always just let the dad do the work and then release the babies into the tank, If i need to get the babies out for some reason, then I try to grab the whole cave and move them that way.I can also say that the babies tend to grow much faster in the breeder tank than they do in a growout tank.
