The temp in my 10g RCS

So I've noticed that my 10 gallon tank's temperature, holding only 8 gallons of actual water, fluctuates a lot more readily than I'd prefer. Currently it absorbs the heat from my room during the day, tops off at 80 degrees, then cools down to about 72-74 overnight. Rinse and repeat the next day.

I was thinking about pH and how it's much better to be off by a few points and constant than to put the shrimp (and soon brigs) through fluctuating pH levels trying to find and maintain the right balance. Does this apply to temperature as well? Should I turn up the heat a tad so that the range of fluctuation is lower? If so, than what should I set the minimum temp to be? I really hope this makes sense--it was much clearer in my head...

What do you guys and gals think?

Oh, and my tank is never in direct sunlight.

RCS are a tropical species and warm water is fine for them up to and slightly over 80 degrees max. I think I would add a heater to the tank so it does not go below 76 at night thus keeping your fluctuations at a smaller level and RCS like their water best over 75 degrees although they have been reported to survive and breed in water temps as low as 55 degrees F.

that's just the answer I was looking for, thanks again southerndesert!

does cold temps like around 70 degrees affect them, cuz my 10 gallon went that low and the shrimp started losing their colors and some died but not really sure if its tat
