I would like to thank everyone who entered, and all those who participated in this contest. This years entries were all incredible...
As for the contest,

Thanks so much everyone :) I love carving pumpkins. My original idea was for a frontosa and some brichardi, but thought this design would probably appeal to more people. I sure do love pumpkins- and fish of course :)

Mine was the Eagle Owl...the second one. I had fun carving it so if I won I figured it was just a bonus anyway. Next year I'll have to try some of the techniques you used. I just carved straight through on all my cuts. Never thought about partial cuts. It looks great that way.

I thought the owl was great. I think the only reason it didn't do better is it didn't have a fishy theme.

Congrats! I did the betta carving, for my crowntail Kuma. Here's the inspiration and the fate of the pumpkin...It was enjoyed by all :D

Nice! I was going to enter but couldn't do it in good conscious. My pumpkin would have been a two person job and my husband is a wood carver....so I thought it would be cheating to have two people and a carver competing.
The winner got my vote.
The eagle owl was really nice too! We got to see a live eagle owl in a raptor display recently. Quite an impressive bird!

Justhannah, I LOVE the photo progression of your pumpkin! I have a mean pumpkin break recipe! It's my favorite. I've never seen cats eat pumpkin. I do have one that likes corn chips though.

Thanks. I was debating whether or not to do a fish but I decided to do a spooky owl instead. Like I said it was a blast doing the carving.
