My son also has a tank. He is only two but he loves them. He even feeds them himself (a little too much)

He has two jellybean parrots.

by the way these are the meanest fish i have ever owned. that is why they are the only two in the tank.

They are a beautiful color:) Many here don't care for them or any other hybrids for that matter:) What size tank are they in? They can grow quite large if I am not mistaking.

we dont care for them either.lol. they are very mean and we cant stick anything with them. but they are a good starter fish for my son.

they are in a 10 gallon tank.

Very nice fish! I didn't know they would fit in a 10 gallon. What do they do that is mean? I am picturing piranha-type behavior, lol.

My 4 year old has "his" own tank, too. A 10 gallon with his betta and my guppies. I put food in his hand every evening, and let him feed the fish. He loves them! He also loves to look at fish at LFS's. He says he wants a dwarf puffer some day.

lol the funny thing is that they do act like piranha's. If you put your finger on the front of the tank the big one will run into the glass. I do not know y they got so mean but o well they are still pretty to look at and we do not mess wit them as much. They are just for looks for my son and he likes to watch them at night when he goes to bed.

Do you have a plan for a bigger tank as they will eventually need one?

No i actually do not. They have been in there for a little over 8 months now and i was going to get rid of them but my son likes to have them in his room so i think i will just keep them there for him. They are very healthy and i do not really want them to get bigger.

They will continue to grow even if left in this tank. The bad part is they will grow deformed and their health will probably be affected. Think of it like this. If someone where to take a baby at birth and place it into a box leaving it to grow their for it's entire life, the child would continue to grow until it's DNA told it to stop, physically deforming the baby. I know it is a bit of a morbid example but the same thing applies for fish. Please think about getting a bigger tank if not for the fish for your son who will watch his beloved fish become grossly deformed and eventually die.

i am working on getting another 55g tank for xmas. However, i live in a small apartment right now and i just have no room.
