i just cant stop this brown algae. i have just about gotten rid of the black beard algae by raising my co2 but i cant stop this brown algee. its all over ALL of my plants. i dont know what to do. ive shortened the time ive had the light on, feeding less, fertilizing less to try and diminish excess nutrients, nothing, still it flourishes. what am i doing wrong?

I can't help much without having more details about your tank.

Usually more plants, less light intensity, and more ferts will fix many algae problems.

how old is the tank?

If the tank is fairly new theres a good chance that it is diatom algae. This algae feeds off silica and will dissappear on its own over time as the new tank matures. In the mean time, theres not much you can do to prevent it, it should wipe off easily tho.

yea it does wipe off very easily. how long should i expect to have this? its been about 3 month now that the brown algae has been there. i thought it was getting better for a bit then it came back stronger.

When your tank matures, it will subside. I cant really give you a time frame on it, it depends a lot on what substrate you have, etc. But I can say that it will go away and in the mean time theres not much you can do about it except keep it wiped off..

I have had my tank for about 8 months and my diatoms have just seen their last days. Good Luck!
