View Full Version : HELP:what is the brown spot on my loaches neck?

I bought a golden dojo [weather] loach a few months back and when i got him i noticed a light brown spot on his neck:omg:.i also saw that all the other loaches in the lfs tank had the same mark and that they were all the same size the same shape and on the same side of the neck, so i assumed that they were natural markings, but yesterday i noticed that the mark had doubled in size:1zhelp: and i,m worried that it may be a parasite or disease,or maybe that is just normal for them? none of the other fish in the tank seem affected,and the loach is acting normally so i don't know :huh::huh:

Look i,m asking a Question! here! i,m worried about my poor little loach and now one of my pleco,s has lost color and is much more susceptible stress than the other one,AND NO ONE IS TRYING TO HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, calm down, it's only been about an hour, usually it can take a few hours to get an answer in the Loach forum. The spot is probably a natural marking, have you seen pictures of them on the internet and compared it to your loach? If you can post a picture of it.

We need a lot more info.Tell us about your tank, size, temp, fish, water params (nitrate ammonia etc), water changes. How long has it been set up? New fish? What kind of plecs, are they fighting? Sounds like the loach isn't the only concern...
I haven't kept dojos but there's a lot of individual variation in color. Here's a link to loaches.com http://www.loaches.com/species-index/weather-loach-misgurnis-anguillicaudatus There are a couple pages of pics, some show golden dojos with "freckles", is that like yours?
A picture would help the most!
