There are several good reasons to oversize your unit. Reason number one is that you will always need more than you think you will--always. Second, 75 gpd membranes often feature a higher rejection rate than higher and lower gpd ratings (usually 98% or better rejection rates). This saves you money on DI resin and makes a very big difference. Overall, I'd suggest a 75 gpd unit for anyone, unless they need more than even that.

Im really close to buying this 7 Stage RO Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filter UV, DI $219.00 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230303253835&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=013)

The UV sterilizer seems a little redundant/unnecessary to me. If the housings are properly disinfected, there aren't any bacteria present to begin with. I'd still want to have it inspected before drinking it, though--they can test for various bacteria CFMs and their concentrations and let you know if it's good to go. This is all UV sterilizer or not.

I want the UV for brewing beer and family drinking water. Need clean water.

I have a 4 gallon storage tank under the sink so I always have water when I need it. I would highly recommend that with any unit you buy, that you get a storage tank with it. I also like the faucet attachment for making great coffee (haven't thought of making beer yet, but I like the idea).

By the way you are right - it is a MAJOR time savor not running to the store when you need water. My RO unit simplified my husbandry duties immensely.

I would still have it inspected by your water company. I can definitely relate to wanting bacteria free water for beer (even more so than drinking water). Don't want any pesky Acetobacter spp. getting in there.

if you still need an ro unit, i have a group order running now for $155 CND for a purelyH2o Optima Vision.

Also those RO/DI units on ebay are junk. Its funny how they can make and sell a 7 stage cheaper then any of the large manufactures. and the reason is because they use lower quality filters, cheap housings that are prone to crack, and the membranes are worth $5 new compared to a filmtec thats worth $50. Save your money now and buy a quality brand unit so you have it for awhile! JMHO
