So we're setting up a little 10 gallon nano on a budget, and I'm not to excited on the prospect of spending ~$100 on a new light. I'm thinking I can fit these in the hood:

I would have reflectors, and would probably just paint the inside of the hood white... Would that be a problem?

Your gonna be pretty limited as to what you can keep under them, but, yes, they would work...

Would four or five of them cut it?

I kept some red shrooms ,gsp ,zoas and a couple of small leathers under a couple of those for 4 months or so ,they seemed to do fine , I have them in my 75 reef and use the lights and the 10g as a refugium now. So yes you can keep some corals, mainly softs, under them.

OK, cool. I just plan on keeping softies.
