yup, here we go. I hav this red melon, he's ALWAYS been the odd one out but seemed to get enough food to keep alive. but... he never really gained weight, always looked thin. So my tank has been medicated w/ itch meds about 5 or 6 wks ago, and last week... i gave them a wormer(flukes, intestinal parasites etc). Everyone has responded well except this one discus. Hes now Very pale, not eating anything (3days its been since wormer) and i just looked now and i dont think hes gonna make it through the night. Not even making an effort to swim really. so... im more curious than enything. It is a juvi discus, and i hav heard they r more difficult..but the rest of the tribe is thriving and i want it to stay that way.

Why are you medicating thew tank? what are your water parameters? And did you mean ich instead of itch?

Stop with the all the medications NOW! add carbon to your filter to remove the medications. remove the single discus and put him in his own tank and soak his food in garlic.
We need to get him eating ASP raise the temp to 90 juveniles can handle that temp and it will increase their metabolism.
If your tank is at the proper temperature 84 - 86 ich can not live in water above 80 degrees. so there is never a reason to treat for ich.

So about a week ago i put in a wormer..and only half a dose. I was treating this as a quarantine tank as a new tank is on the way for xmas. I havent gone into this willy nilly, ive read these forums and googled way tooo many hours away studying as much as i can. And wen draal5 givs me advice i know he hasnt put me in the discus idiot file.......yet.

Hello, How do I soak Discus food in garlic? Is it any medicine? What help it will do ? -Thanks.

There is liquid garlic by Kent. Add three drops on the food mix. Garlic can entice even a shy fish to eat.

Put the qt tank where it can see the other fish.look closely at the head region to see if you can see anything that looks like pinholes or holes.

Medicating for internal parasites is a choice.
I do it when I am uncertain of the source. Many breeders do it for the same reasons.
it is done in qt.
young discus should be kept 88-90 f
this should reduce chance of ich .
it also stimulates the metabolism and appetite of the Discus.
