I usually have to leave town for business trips that range from 2-3 days to a whole week. My wife is totally unaware of my aquarium hobby so it is hard to explain how to dose my dry ferts using the EI schedule (so much so it scares me :eek3:). She can definitely put in a capful of Excel while I'm gone but I was wondering if I just didn't have her dose ferts while I'm gone if that would cause any problems?

decrease your lighting/photoperiod for the time that you are away and you should be fine.

Why not premix the ferts in a 100-250ml bottle and write on the bottle M-W-F dose 2-5mls and so on.. I mean i doubt she can mess that up

You'd be suprised. :evil_lol:

If you are a frequent traveler, then going automated on your dosing might be something to look into. The APT instruments SP-100 peristaltic pump is a really decent pump for relatively low cost. 2 of those hooked up to timers make an excellent setup for macros and traces. You'd have to dose liquid, but would save you the worry about someone else dosing.

If you go to the drugstore they have these great little pill dividers that go form sunday to saturday. Buy a couple and use one for dry ferts and one for food.

Have fun on your trip and rest assured your tank is taken care of.
