If my description doesn't help, I'll try a picture, but they are awfully small.
These things are about 1/8" in dia. and brown. They have 1 needle-like prong, about 1/8" long sticking out of the middle. They don't move and are hard like a shell. I can break them off but I seem to be getting more and they are extremely sharp. Growing on my live rock mostly.

Nigh impossible without a pic, but if I had to guess, I'd say small vermetid snails.

I tried the best I could on these 2 pictures. Most are further back in the tank so it's near impossible to get in a picture. The little things are right in the middle of each picture. I've never seen anything come out of these, so I can't tell if they are hollow or not.

It looks like it could be a tube worm. Take a look at this link, (http://wetwebmedia.com/feather.htm) it may help you I.D. it.

Vermetid snails would be my guess as well. They appear to be the same species that I commonly find.

Definitely vermetid snails. If you find them unsightly, you could snap them off. They do irritate corals. Other than that, they are harmless.
Yep, those are pretty harmless little guys. But, they can multiply and take hold in places you'd probably rather them not grow. They grow better in my sump than in the display tank for whatever reason (probably more detritus to be caught there), and seem to have a special affinity for growing on the inside of the intake cover on our skimmer pump and return pump.

I have them on the back of my tank and not the front...looks like stars against the black background.
