Hey everyone,
I have a ruffled sword in my 30 gallon which was planted about a month ago. It grew almost immediately after adding it and put on about 4+ leaves since planting. However, it recently has started to die. The older leaves are turning brown from the bottom up and the most recent leaf was clear when it emerged and didn't get more than about a 1/2" long before it fell off. I had to treat with Maracide last week for an Ich outbreak...could that be it? Although, all the other plants are doing excellent. Tank parameters:
substrate: Profile
lighting: 3.0 watts/gallon; compact fluorescent; 10 hours/day
pH: 6.6
KH: 3
CO2: 23 ppm
NO3: 5 ppm
K: 37 ppm (high this week...usually at 20-25 ppm)
Flourish: 6 ml 1x/week
PO4: 0.5 ml 1x/week (this week was the first time I added PO4)
*I'm trying to go light on the ferts. (except added too much K this week...oops) b/c the tank has only been setup for a month.
Thanks for any insights!
Melanie
