aquarium decorations

I have a beautiful abalone shell that I want to put into my freshwater fish tank. How can I "clean" it so that I can put it in my fish tank, but it won't harm my fish? Soke it in freshwater for a couple of days?? I'm not really sure what to do. Any advice would be great. Thanks,

A good scrub in some freshwater should do it.
