Ok i been around for quiet some time and i had some softies some did great some just died. Now I wanna really get that full reef look with the hard corals in my tank I really would like to see some SPS & LPS in my tank. Well I need the help to make my dreams possible I have been reading up for sometime now on items that i might need to best deal with it. But it stills worries me that i could possible miss something or do something wrong. i currently bought some items and have done some changes the tank that i am working on is my 210

I bought a CA reactor and i am currently changing my 3 250mh with 2 54w t5s to completly 80w t5s i will start with 4 and work my way to 6 80w t5s that will be overdriven to give me that 20% of wattage. I have magnesium and can easily purchase Alk these two will be dosing kits from Bulkreef.com. Is there anything else i should get? Will this be ok or should i make some changes? I was told to add a Ozone unit to my tank and also a Kalk to my tank. I wanna go hardcore but all these things make no sense to me

:help:Anyone please assit me in not killing my tank and create a thriving reef tank.:help:

Thanks

I have been told CA is unneccesary and I have had great luck without it. There are lots of unknowns when it comes to SPS and LPS. Basically you will have to dose depending on your stock. So its all up to what you buy and when you buy it.

Well first do you have a sump/fuge setup. I feel you will need a good
skimmer, I would go with a Tunze wave box. I think you would be better off picking either SPS or LPS because most LPS dont do as well in the types of flow and nutrient levels that SPS tend to thrive in there are some but not many IMO, how long has your tank been setup?

In order of importance.

1. Stable Alkalinity
2. Ample light and appropriate photoperiod.
3. Low nutrients.

This tank has been up and running for 10 months now i do have a sump and i am currently running a skimmer more than what i need. Why would you pick a wave box? with my original layouts i was going to do a kalk with a ca reactor as well run it with a Ozone unit but then i felt like i was overdoing it.

Water motion should factor in somewhere, schigara--above the rest IME/IMHO.

In any case, I'd stick with your calcium reactor. When you overdrive your bulbs, you'll also raise the wattage--it will come out to slightly more wattage than your current setup :). I believe they run ~95w each.

The waveboxes are nice, but good, dispersed water motion is waht is necessary. If you can factor in a wavebox as a form of supplemental flow, then all the better. The Seio, Koralia, Vortech and Tunze powerheads are my personal choices (the latter three being the better picks, IMHO).

looked at the wave maker kinda pricey for just one unit is there any other way around that i like the idea now of the waves

They are coming out with a tunze nano wavebox. It is a bit cheaper.
