On Monday, I noticed the first noticable sign of ich on one of my tiger barbs. I picked up some quick cure and some aquarium salt. I removed carbon, put 1 drop of quick cure per gallon, and 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons.
On Tuesday, I used 1 drop of quick cure per gallon.
Wednesday, I changed some water and used the appropriate amount of aquarium salt for the new water. I also used 1 drop of quick cure per gallon.
Thursday, I used 1 drop of quick cure per gallon.
Friday, I again used 1 drop of quick cure per gallon
Saturday (tomorrow) I plan to do a large water change and treat again with quick cure and appropriate amount of salt.
My questions/concerns/conditions:
1)This started with only one fish and remained on only one fish until today (Friday) and is now visible on another fish.
2)The originally infected fish has more white spots today (Friday)
3)The spots protrude a bit from the fish's skin and do appear to have the "salt/sugar sprinkled look"
4)None of the fish have been lethargic, rubbing against anything, all have healthy and normal appetites, and otherwise do not act differently despite the white spots
5)Water conditions are within acceptable conditions
6)Temperature stays between 75.6 and 75.8
7Tank lights have been off and light available to the aquarium has been kept to a minimum
8)Quick cure says that water will remain colored for a few days, but my water is not noticeably colored by the next morning (again, NO carbon)
What do you all think? Am I on the right track? Should I be doing anything differently? Does it sound like ich, or something else that appears to be similar in nature?
Please let me know! My fish thank you!
FYI: The fish were transferred into a new, bigger home on Saturday, so I assume that this is a result of the move. I did everything I could to keep stress to a minimum (kept gravel, transferred all water, ran old filter with new one, ect...), but I guess luck wasn't on my side.
