Hi guys,

Im just wondering is it ok to use the filter media I had in my last tank?

I still have my green nitrate sponge and my 3 blue bio sponges (1corse, 2 fine)

They are all just a bit dirty but I could wash them in boiling water?

I know you can usually just rinse sponges but is that ok for a new tank or do I need to go and fork out for new sponges?

Cheers!

Are these still running on the old tank or have they been dried out?

Either way you can reuse them but if they were still running on a tank it's possible that some bacteria survived. Cuts down on the cycling time.

I havent taken them out to clean them.. the tank is still cycling with the ammonia as discussed. I was just curious if the bacteria isnt there can I re-use them..

Thanks

you shouldnt have a problem, but unless you are going to use the media to cycle the tank i would just go with all new media.
