Hi guys,

I just got a few plants today for my tank but im having a bit of trouble deciding exactly where I want them.. Ive done a rough layout (see pics) but im not sure if this is best. Obviously the ones leaning over will be straightened up was just finding it hard to keep them still for the photos http://www.fishtankforums.com/images/smilies/wink.gif.. I will be getting another 4 or 5 plants in a week or two..

I have labelled the names on the plants.. The two on the bogwood are anubias nana and microsorum pteropus which I believe are best attached with fishing line or cotton thread to a piece of rock or wood..

I'd love your suggestions on the layout if you have any..

Cheers!

I'd get some java fern and place it on some of the driftwood. And at least a couple more crypts for the foreground. Some Ludwigia (if you have enough lighting) and perhaps more val for the background.
How big is the tank?

Don't know how I missed that! Looks like a huge clump too. Are you going with strictly low light plants? I have some large varieties of Anubias in the back of my tank, along with vals and Ludwigia Repens

Looks like a good start. I'd carefully take the crypt out of its pot so it can grow and spread more easily.

Im getting a few others all low-medium light... I have a list in my other thread in this section 'rate my plants'...

You could leave the vals on 1 end & maybe the java fern on wood at the other end. Anubias on wood near the center (but not too centered) & maybe the crypt sort of in front of the vals. Nice wood BTW.

Gently remove the crypts & pick off any rock wool. Often there are several plants in the pot each with 4-5 leaves. They can be separated & planted individually. If there are enough you could have 2 small grouping, repeating plants is a nice design element. Don't be surprised if the leaves "melt" off, crypts often do that. Just leave the roots & any healthy leaves & it'll regrow soon, a month maybe to recover.
