How do I package Belem's and Riccia for shipping?

I need to ship these plants.

How do I package them for shipping? I don't want to smash the tops of the Belem's so how would I bag them up?
And what about the Riccia?

Get a wet paper towel, wrap the plants, place in a ziplock and in the box. Make sure to throw in some crumpled newspapers or shipping peanuts to provide some cushion and making sure the plants dont move 2 much inside the package.

I would think the Crown's would get smashed wrapping them in the paper towel? or am I just over paranoid? :perv:

wrap the paper towel loosely. And like i mentioned when you place it in the box make sure to have just enough cushion there so the plants dont move around much

I use wet newspaper to wrap then I place plants inside an appropriately sized fish bag, add 1/2 oz or so more water and knot the bag at the top of plants. I pull the top of the bag back down over the knot over the bottom of the bag and knot it again to create a double bag. You can also just double bag. :p

At this time of year if the box will spend much time at temps under 40 but over 30F, I would use a small styro and pad plants with packing noodles.

In really cold temps- ie below freezing from end to end of the trip- you may need to use a bigger box/styro so you can add a heat pack w/o roasting the plants and/or use Express mail if its overnight.

I got my plants in wet newspaper too but they were just fine.I would however use papertowel since its easier to work with (well at least in my case LOL)

ok thanks, I will try and pack them with peanuts sine I don't have a Styrofoam box that will fit plants and Driftwood in a Flat Rate box.

Should I leave a little air in the bag with the plants or try and get all the air out?

How long can Belem's survive in a box being shipped?
