Candles and the like...

I know that spraying perfume or room fragrance is a definite no no around fishtanks. However, is burning candles or fragrant oils? I understand that the chemicals from the perfume can settle into the fishtank when sprayed. I can't really imagine how burning a candle could really influence my tank... I love candles, but I also love my fishtank. Can I have both in the same room?

There are some hydrocarbons which result from the burning of oils/candles and these may affect the fish tank or cause a film to build on the water surface. I'm being alarmist, but I'm not sure that I'd keep the two in the same room.

All my family LOVES candles/parfumes/scents and my fish have never suffered any...:confused:

My wife burns candles all the time. No problem in any of my tanks and it has been years...
