Hey ladies and gents; I have an Gold Veil angel, he has developed a brownish bump on the body near the top fin. It is about the size of a half a grain of rice or so.

Water Parameters:

Weekly Water Changes
Temperature = 80
Ammonia = 0
Freshwater pH = 7.4
Nitrites = 0
Nitrates = 5.0 - 7.0

Any ideas as to what this might be and what I should do about it? I tried to photograph it but it does not come out, too small.

Anyone? It has turned into a small growth looking thing now, kind of like a pimple but brown.

It could be what we call a bruise or hematoma would be my guess.

Has the angels behavior changed at all hiding etc ?

With out seeing the spot its real hard to tell but if there is a change in behavior or turns white or some other sort of problem this is what I would do:

1 remove him to a smaller tank treat it with aquarium salt @2tbs per 10g of water

2 raise the temp 2 degrees per day till its 84 -86 degrees

3 change 20% per day keeping the salt ratio the same till you see some improvement
