As part of our fish geek weekend, Sev and I also attended the AGA and had a blast. I got to shake Mr. Amano's hand and we listened to a lecture on the Nature Aquarium (translated), I got to ask a question personally, and then at the end of the day we watched him and his assitants set up an incredible planted ADA tank!

Wow. I wanted to go to this but was not able. Thanks for sharing....
Looks like it was a really great event. That tank is amazing. It would take me years (Or never!) to make a tank look like that! (yea, probably never!)

I really enjoyed the whole day, but the Nature Aquarium demo was really the highlight for me. :) It's one thing to check out the Nature Aquarium World books (which I've done extensively, lol), but quite another to see the techniques shared in person. Amano's tank, of course, turned out amazing, and I'm really stoked to have witnessed it! What a learning experience! :D

And BTW, for anyone who's curious, the light he has suspended above the tank is a MH/PC combo. I'm not sure of the wattage, but we did get to check it out before the demo. The whole setup, complete with Amano's aquascape, was auctioned off yesterday.

Wow, if I got to meet Takashi Amano in person, I would probably be so nervous that I would babble like an idiot for 10 seconds then blurt out, "You know there's a shrimp named after you?"

Phenomenal! I bet that tank went for a nice chunk of change... Did you guys bring anything cool home from the auctions?

Thats a priceless experience to actually see the techniques being done rather than reading about them. I can only imagine how much you must have learned.

We didn't go back for the auction on Sunday. That would have just been too tempting. They had some really cool fish (and some plants) for sale on Saturday, but I'm trying to consolidate some of my tanks so I had to resist.

Downtown Atlanta.
