Hi guys

Am getting sick of wasting my money on lights and filters that end up not doing what I thought they would. I have subsequently started looking at the Red Sea Max plug and play aquariums. Anyone had any experiences with these?

What are trying to accomplish in this tank? While it can be a good choice for certain applications, it (like most any plug-n-play system) is lacking in one or more areas to make it an equally good choice for others.

I have heard a lot of good things about them, but most do make some sort of mod to them.
Check out this web site, it is for Red Sea Owner only. Should give some idea if this is for you.

As long as you do some major modifications to the canopy it can be a good setup. As sold though with just PC lights it can't do a lot of corals. If you replace the PCs with a MH and remove the canopy then it can become a decent reef tank for any type of corals. Without any modifications you are stuck with pretty much just softy corals. IMO I would never buy one because I can make a much cheaper setup that is similar size with much better filtration, flow, and lighting. I believe a company called Oceanic makes a HQI (MH) 28G nano tank that is better lighting, but the filtration (skimmer especially) is junk. I have not seen an All-in-One nano tank that does everything well at this point.. but I am sure there will be some in the near future that resolved the issues with the current generation of nanos.

I agree with Ace25 the skimmer for the RSM are crap. If you are set on getting a all in one tank. Take a look at the finnex M tanks. They have a little more water volume then the RSM and come stock with 4 different light setups to choose from, good skimmer and a built in refuguim. With a reasonable price of around 6oo for the whole setup. This is the one i am looking at for my living room tank.

Thanks heaps guys
