Howdy ya'll! I need a solution to my problem. Ok, here it is, I have my aquarium in the basement and my parents don't want me siphoning the water into any of their sinks. So I have to pull the water from the outside faucet. My problem is that when the water level in the tank gets low enough, I loose my suction in the siphon. I have a 50ft python running from my backyard, thru the kitchen and downstairs into my basement. How do I over come this obstacle??? I have thought about useing an underwater sump pump to just leave in the tank for whenever I needed to change my water, but I don't know if the pressure would be strong enough to help the water up the stairs. I need a solution. With the current setup, I can only change about a quarter of the water at a time. And since my week day schedule prevents me from doing a water change, I can only do it on the weekends. I would like to be able to change at least half the tanks water at a time. Please help.

Thanks!

Normally most basements have some sort of drain in case of flooding. Usually it is in the laundry room. If you can find the drain then run the hose from your python to it and the syphon it normally without hooking up to a faucet.

It works at my house.

you only need to change the water a quarter tank at a time. you seem young enough so do what i had to do for a few years. get a couple 5 gallon buckets and carry the water, those 5 gallon bottles for watercoolers work great too cause they dont really spill while your walking.

yeah just use a bucket. then pour it into the bathtub if they wont let you use the sink. whats the rational behind that anyways? water goes in a sink, thats what its for.
