I have a 55 gallon tank that is moderately to heavily planted. I dose macros and micros using the EI schedule with Iron supplementation. I also dose Excel right now but I am switching to pressurized by March of next year.

I have:

25 neon tetras
6 Peppered Corys
6 ottos
2 cherry barbs
1 Mystery Snail
And I am going to add 2-4 Bolivian Rams next year

Could I add some schrimp to my tank without them becoming snacks? Also, what would be the best schrimp (if I can add them) to put into a planted tank (eat algae, etc.)?

Any other special considerations when keeping schrimp that I should think about?

covered intake. Your stock now would be fine with shrimp as your tank is moderately to heavily planted. The rams would enjoy the snacks though some may survive. Amano shrimp are great algae eaters.

I would think that amanos would be large enough to be fine. If you are looking more at Neocaridina spp. like cherries, the rams and possibly even the cherry barbs might snack on the babies but with enough plant cover I'm sure some would make it.
