I am sooooo excited! I knew I had a berried female a few weeks ago but after not seeing her I assumed she may have dropped her eggs and thus blended in with all of the other females.... Well today I was doing a full clean out of my tank and nearly had a heart attack when I was washing out gravel and rescaping moss and saw the little critters lol. At first I didn't have my glasses on and thought they were bugs but upon further inspection I found at least 15 baby RCS! I am so happy! I hope more survived the cleaning but I fear many had perished before I realized the babies were in there as they are so small and pretty much invisible. Just wanted to share my joy at my first successful babies in my tank! Woo hoo! Now if only my Briggs would get to it lol.

sweet congratulations! I'm super impatient about my berried shrimp as well and I only hope I don't send any of the newborns into the Aquarium Beyond during a cleaning >.>

Enjoy the shrimplets!

That is great news! They can be so very difficult to spot initially! They grow fast though!

I definitely wouldnt have seen them if it wasnt during cleaning... theyre just two little squirmy eyes lol. Since I cleaned I've seen a lot more shrimp out! I'm very happy about that AND it appears another female is berried. YAY more little shrimplets!

Congrats! I felt the same way the first time it happened. I'm so paranoid about cleaning their tank because I'm always afraid I'm losing some of those tiny babies each time no matter how careful I am.

Do you use a siphon with pantyhose on the end too?

well no because i didnt know they were in there and my larger ones i can clearly see. once i saw the babies i improvised in a way that took far too much time and energy but the pantyhose may be my next tactic because it sounds one heck of a lot easier!

i used msjinkzd's suggestion and put a brine net over the vac tube or airline tubing

I just syphon from the middle of the water so no shrimp get sucked in.
