i have a 36 gallon tank and im using Penguin 1140 Power head. The measured flow is somewhere around 300 GPH. is that too much for a liltle 36 gallon tank? im just a newb here.any help will be much appriciated
Give us a bit more information about your tank. Planted or non-planted? As flimsy as plants may seem, they can slow down current. Do you have any hard decor that can slow down the current? What kind of fish do you have?
i have a planted tank. few tetras,3 goldfish ,1 koi and 2 abio rainbow sharks and an african brown knife fish.i do have some heavy decors. But it doesnt seem like the fish really happy with it.is the current too strong?
That tank is extremely overstocked, Goldfish can get a foot long, Koi get 3 feet long, Rainbow Sharks get 8" long, and Knife fish get 2 feet long. Koi and Goldfish need a large outdoor pond, and the rainbow shark need to be in a tank on his own. Did you do any research before getting the fish?
well i did some research on goldfish and koi.i dont know much about albino rainbow sharks,i got them at the petsmart store and on the liltle note they have on the tanks said albino sharks only get up to around 4'' long.so i thought its gonna be fine in that 36 gallon tank.
not a good idea to keep goldfish and tropical fish together both need different temps goldfish prefer cooler water my goldfish tanks stay around 65-67 degrees
Rainbows do have the ability to get to 8". There are many factors so they might not reach it, but why take chances? Like other posters have said, it is an incompatible stocking and over-stocked.
reason im not really worry about overstocked because im about to build a pond and goldfish and koi will be out there. but its pretty cold right now to make 1 so have to wait till spring or summer
