I originally was planning on getting a 180 gallon, but after realizing the costs I decided to go with a 135 gallon. It's footprint is 72", 18", 25". I'm buying it used from a family member for $1000. It comes with the tank, marble stand, marble canopy (pretty sure fake marble though, still looks nice), glass lids, lighting, gravel, driftwood, rocks, 1 Fluval 404, 1 Rena Filstar XP3, 1 Fluval 304, 3 300 watt heaters (new), and fish. I realy like his fish so I decided to keep them.
The fish that are going into my tank are:
*1 Tiger Oscar (8-9 inches)
*1 Male Severum (4-5 inches)
*1 Male Convict (3 inches)
*1 Synodontis Eupterus (7 inches)
Do you think $1000 is good for al this stuff?
Is this a compatible setup?
The only thing I'm worriede about is the male con being eaten by the oscar, the con is pretty quick though, what do you think?

I would be more worried about the convict beating the oscar up. They are really tough little fellas.
sounds like a nice setup you have there. If I was you though I would add another severum or two to get some more motion in the tank.
Or maybe a school of Clown loaches. (4 or5)

In that setup...I'll go for very expensive cichlids :D They are hard to get...only a few guys have them. Then again...these cichlids I mentioned...they need professional aquarists to keep them.
You can also give a hand on Discus. Of course, it also depends on the tap water.
The first question you have to find out is the tap water.
Secondly, you need to ask youself...what kind of temperament cichlids are you looking for. Some people can handle aggressive fish. Some don't
Finally, you have a big tank. That means a lot of choices than 55g tank. Research around...you might find something that suit your taste and tank.
Are you looking community tank?

You can figure the fish at $10 each. used stand and canopy go $100-$200, the tank 135g go 130-250, the rest of the stuff figure $50.
So the total would go for $330-550. now the top figure is for perfect shape and rather new. I bought my 135G used for $100 and got the rocks, filter, and heater included, no stand and no canopy. I bought the stand for $20. My stuff ar enot bad and not top of the line either.
I think the price is way hi. :)

I agree with Scholar. The price is quite high. $1000 is closer to full price for new equipment.

Too bad you don't live in the south.
There's a 180 gallon for sale in Memphis.
Says it's 10 months old. Complete setup
has been retrofitted. Beautiful dark oak
stand and canopy. 349Watt planted tank
with 14 discus. Everything goes with the tank.
 If only I had $1000.

back on sunject i think the price is way hi i would never pay more then 500 for a 135g. it is a nice setup but not that nice. the marble sounds dope. but not for 1000. depending on where you live you may be able to get that setup new or many new parts. look around and check your options before you make your buy, always a good decision. you could even get a few quotes from aquarium shops on the setup.
PS yes i am a progressive customer.
