Can I still plant these?

I just received a shipment of som ecrypts from singapore. I think that with the holiday, they got stuck in the post office for a while. The bases of the plants are whitish and the plants themselves smell bad... kind of like when you take a bunch of flowers out of a vase that have been there for a while.

Can I still plant these and see if they'll live, or will I screw up my water?

like petluvr said.. if they are all mushy then they are gone.. If the bottoms of the plants/roots is still on the hard side then you may be able to save them. Just rinse and plant

That's a bummer. From the picture, it looks like you might have some viable roots but if they are all squishy then they have already started to rot. If there are any that are still firm and have some healthy (white) roots then go ahead and plant them. Its worth a try.

I agree, if the roots are fine they should be able to rebound...otherwise they're gone.

Personally I would rinse them in de-chlorinated water and plant them an established tank by themselves. It may be fruitless, but if you have the time it may warrant a try.

I'd wash them in running water to help get the soft yucky stuff off, then plant & see what happens. Give them a month but keep removing any squishy bits. Worth a try, some roots look ok.
