Pretty cool, probably a mood thing.

Could possibly be an internal tumour pressing on the nerves which control colouration.

My paradise fish changes color all the time but I've never seen him go 1/2 and 1/2 before. KarlTH might have guessed it. How old is the little guy?

not real sure how old he is he was smaller when i got him about a month or so ago . i estimate he grew 1/2 in or so since , he changed almost back to norm last night but when i walked up he re colorized him self or 1/2 anyway . and was doing the wiggle at the glass , he acts normal all but the color

huh, that is pretty nifty! My dicey has never done that. Of course he now hides in his little cave most of the time and only comes out to bully during meals. His personality has changed a lot since being introduced to 150gallon long and wide! Well, that brings me to maybe yours is just bi-polar. I am, but i've never managed to turn half and half, especially not with a perfect line down the middle.
But seriously tho, I have noticed mines color changes are based on temp and mood. I almost always notice when he's aggitated "more spastic" he's darker. I watch his color even closer now, as the last time he went real bland, it turned out that the heater on his side had come unpluged just enough to stop working.

not sure temp stays right at 80.0 his brothers are all doing good just not changing like this , i think he gets more attention like this and its a ploy to get more food ,lol

Is he eating well? Is he still active? I had a paradise fish for a few months and he did the half and half thing and got very listless. He seemed to get better, but somehow he died while I was visiting relatives for Thanksgiving.

It's not a mood thing. I had Yellow Lab die a while back with that same thing. It had it for quite a few weeks befor it finally died. I thought it was some sort of gentic OOPS until a bout 3 1/2 weeks ago I had problems in my 20g that came about as a result of having to empty the tank and reseal it. Anyway fish got sick after shock from established bacteria dieing and when I was searching for a description of what they had I found a discription of what the Lab had. It had a name, and for the life of me I just spent more than 30 frustrating minutes trying to find it for you. Can't believe I didn't add it to my favorites! I think there was a possible treatment. My yellow also bloated really bad and got bulging eyes that went away in about a week, then 2-3 weeks it died-Still half shaded like yours. I will keep looking for you

Sure wish I had saved the cite. Seems to be farther out than 3 weeks as I can not find it in my history! I will keep looking and when I find it I will post it to forum. I think it is some sort of stress induced disease.
