convict breeding pair questions

do convicts liplock each time they spawn even after their first spawn? i also wanted to know if anybody had a picture of breeding convicts before and after their color change (for breeding)? how often and how much of a water change should i be doing?

No they don't liplock. That is aggression and they need to be separated until the female colors up showing she is ready to mate The female will have some orange splotches that will be very vivid when she is ready. Once they have mated they both can stay together for about 2-3 months to raise the fry.

the female has great colors and she has a semi fat tummy. the male is huge

mine have lip-locked and still do it right before they breed.
